Caring for the Brisbane Community
Our current Community Care programs focus largely on the Homeless, Disadvantaged and Transient Population of Inner City Brisbane. Every month we run a 'Community Dinner' which feeds over 100 adults and up to 20 children with a three course meal including full table service as well as a pick-up and drop-off service. These Dinners are run on the final Tuesday of every month starting at 5.30pm at 166 Sydney Street New Farm and often includes live music or entertainment, ensuring that a great time is had by all involved.
Another major program that we run each week is our 'Mega Thursday' program. Every Thursday we provide a free Hot Breakfast from 7am - 9am (Served at 7.45am) for up to 70 clients from the local community. Then from 12noon - 3pm every Thursday afternoon we give away up to 110 food hampers each week containing 2-3 bags of groceries, meat and fresh fruit and vegetables. Clients are also given access to free clothing, blankets and homewares that are generously donated from within the local community.
We also run a 'Yearly Community Blitz Day' which is a great day where up to 200 volunteers from our organisation 'Blitz' a local Community Organisation such as schools, special schools, rehabilitation centres and other charitable organisations. In the mould of 'Backyard Blitz' and 'Domestic Blitz' these days are simply designed to show our community that we are here to make a practical difference in the communities that we serve.

Metro Community Care relies heavily on the funding and generosity of Local Business and Government as well as our ability to run fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Over a number of years we have built a solid team of Businesses and Funding Bodies that have assisted us with regular donations on a weekly or monthly basis to help with our on-going initiatives, or those that supply us with one-off donations to assist with individual projects such as our local and citywide Blitz Days.
Without the help of these sponsors, we would not be able to successfully run all of the initiatives and programs that we currently run. We would also not be able to have successfully completed numerous 'Blitz Days' and other large scale projects over the last 5 years. Therefore, please have a look through the generous businesses and organisations that have supported us in the past and help us to acknowledge their generosity and community spirit.
If you believe that your business or organisation would like to become a sponsor of Metro Community Care and the work that we do within the City of Brisbane, please Contact Us and let us know how you would like to be involved. Whether it is by the donation of goods or services or simply a cash donation; we are always happy to have support from our local community.
Please be aware that any donations over the value of $2.00 are tax deductible.
Metro Community Care has a great team of volunteers serving the City of Brisbane in many different ways every single week. Without an amazing team of volunteers, we would not be able to complete the numerous initiatives that we run each year, making a positive difference in our local communities and the City of Brisbane.
Because our community programs have varying target audiences and meet varying needs within the local community, the volunteer requirements of each program or initiative can vary greatly.
Therefore, if you would like to volunteer for Metro Community Care and see how you can make a difference in your community, please contact usand we can provide you with any further information regarding your interest in volunteering for Metro Community Care.
